President-Elect Joe Biden is a Democrat which means he’s likely to support restrictive laws and regulations on vaping. Many Democrats don’t favor tobacco companies, they believe tobacco companies are planning to trap a new younger generation of smokers.

Although the Dems detest the tobacco industry, they don’t fully understand vaping issues enough to make a well-informed stance. So instead of choosing a side, they rely on anti-smoking groups like Tobacco-free kids and the American Academy of pediatrics as saviors against the sinister tobacco industry.

Biden doesn’t have a particular vendetta with the vape industry. He only made one ill-informed comment on the issue this year referencing vaping and the “EVALI” lung industries. He has no opinion on the topic at all, it’s not even mentioned in his intended health care plan.

However, that doesn’t mean that an advisor won’t persuade him of its importance. Just as HHS Secretary Alex Azar persuaded President Trump to ban flavors in 2019. For now, it’s not even an issue or a priority and may never become one until the coronavirus pandemic subsides.

The pandemic has most likely quicked the decline of vaping as a major issue. The “EVALI” concern took a back seat as a 29% decline in youth vaping this year put out its fire. However, anti-vaping crusaders Matthew Myers and the Bloomberg funded vaping rivals will try to keep the issue alive.

Vape enthusiasts should remain vigilant because if anti-vaping groups can’t get their way in Washington, they will pressure state and local governments into action. This means that there'll be a slew of flavor bans next year in State legislatures and city councils, which will be detrimental as federal action.
