Vandy Vape Jackaroo Starter Kit Review

Vandy Vape Jackaroo Starter Kit

The Jackaroo Starter Kit by Vandy Vape is designed specifically for maximum durability. It is an IP67-rated kit, meaning that it is shockproof, waterproof, and dustproof – making it one of the toughest and most rugged vapes on the market today. With that having been said, its durability really is the primary attractor here. It also includes some basic features like simple temperature controls, but it is primarily intended to withstand even the harshest conditions. Keeping this in mind, let’s take a look at the Jackaroo specs before hearing from our reviewers.

The consensus on the Vandy Vape Jackaroo falls pretty neatly in line with the intent behind this product. Vandy Vape created a device meant to be nigh-indestructible and have largely succeeded in doing so. Along the way, however, it seems they were forced to make some concessions which may hamper the Jackaroo’s larger appeal. Let’s take a look, beginning with the cons.

Right off the bat, the Jackaroo’s battery compartment seems to be public enemy number one. With an odd, pointy design, reviewers complained that it not only hurt their fingers, but it’s difficult to open. On a similar note, the MicroUSB port is hidden away behind the screen and only accessible via screwdriver. While this port is only necessary for firmware updates, it’s still an accessibility issue. Each reviewer also pointed out the hefty size and weight of this unit, despite being a single-battery mod. Like the hidden USB port, this added weight is likely due to its IP67 rating, but it is less-than-ideal anyway.

More minor and less common gripes include a bit of turbulence on the airflow along with a loose airflow ring. DJLsb Vapes, who did not seem particularly enthused with the unit as a whole, points out a host of issues ranging from its protruding resin panels to its low-profile fill port.

On the plus side, this unit seems to be the most durable device available today. Commonly compared to Geek Vape’s Aegis Mod, each reviewer agreed that the Jackaroo could most likely outperform its only real competition. Reviewers also universally agreed that the Jackaroo fits super well in the palm of the hand with grade-A ergonomics. It also fires really well, putting out great flavor on both coils (while most reviewers favored the 0.15ohm option). Last but not least, the screen has been well-received, with reviewers praising its size, clarity, brightness, and ease-of-use.

Overall, the average “grade” – if we’re going to give this kit something as clear-cut as that – seems to be approximately a B or B-. If you’re in the market for an incredibly durable or rugged starter kit, this is your best bet. If, on the other hand, you don’t live or work in extreme conditions, you may be better off with a more full-featured and easy-to-use device.
