Conclusion

If we had to give this unit a letter grade, it looks like we’d probably even out to around a B or a B+. There were some universally acclaimed features, but also some deal breakers, depending upon your personal preferences.

Reviewers were a big fan of the entire kit’s construction. Both the mod and the tank are durable, compact, and feel solid in the hand. While it’s a bit heavy for its size, the quality of its design more than compensates for its lack of portability. Reviewers also loved the mesh coils, but this is a bit of a double-edged sword. These coils are not yet included with this kit. Per the reviews we checked out, you may want to wait until the mesh coils are included or pick up a pack along with your new starter kit – they’re that important. The Crown IV Mod also includes a big, easy-to-use screen from which you can easily operate its TC mode. This, however, is where some of the more glaring negative aspects of the reviews start to kick in.

The TC mode is fantastic for what it does. Unfortunately, the entire chipset is limited by only offering a single temperature control mode for the SS904L heating elements. If you want to use nickel or other stainless steel options, you have to fiddle with a decidedly less-intuitive TCR mode. The Uwell chipset also does not include common features like wattage pre-heat or a puff counter. If these are features you can live without, chances are this is a great kit for you.

Another big negative was that the device is prone to falling over. While it includes a couple rubber feet on its bottom, the rounded edges of the device make it extremely unstable while standing on its own. It’s also only compatible with <25mm atomizer heads, which could be a problem for certain vapers.

Overall, the Uwell Crown IV Starter Kit is a great device with some notable limitations. If you’re looking for a good, reliable box mod kit with some basic features and functionality, this is the device for you. If you’re more of a gearhead looking for full temperature control settings, pre-heat options, and comprehensive control over your device, you may want to take a pass on this one.
