The Freemax GEMM Pod is a compact lightweight pod that borders the line between the starter kit and pod system. The pod houses a large 1300mAh battery and chipset that allows you to swap between three power levels. The chassis is plastic (let’s be real) the device feels light and inexpensive. It bears a rounded rectangular shape that looks similar to the VooPoo Vinci Air.
The GEMM Pod includes a disposable pod that includes two coil options that suit MTL and DTL vaping styles. The GEMM pods offer a 1.0ohm coil for MTL vaping and a 0.5ohm coil for DTL styles. FreeMax is always innovating their coils and how the liquid is vaporized.
Coils utilize T fiber wicking cotton for a boost in flavor. The FreeMax GEMM pod includes a 2mL refillable capacity. It includes a silicone fill port with a coil which should be disposed of when the coil stops working.
Let’s check out the pros and cons. Starting with the cons, The GEMM pods only have a 2mL capacity. It would be nice if it was more. Next, many reviewers pointed out the plastic cheap feel that the device has, it feels like a toy.
Continuing, it would have been nice if there was some sort of display screen. Performance-wise, the airflow only comes in on one side of the tank. Vaper Matt from SMM said that he wishes the MTL pod had a smaller diameter coil inside to support a tighter draw. He suggested that next time FreeMax should use a honeycomb airflow for a better vape.
Moving onto the pros, although the device feels like plastic it is super lightweight which makes it perfect for travel. The disposable tank is a huge pro, the fact that you can fill it up 20 times before disposing is another huge pro.
Also, the coils last a long time. The MTL pod was a crowd favorite for performance, both pods are great at producing flavor and clouds but the 1.0ohm MTL pod produces a loose MTL draw boarding on tight restricted.
Final Thoughts
Overall the FreeMax GEMM 25W Pod System gives a great performance. The vapor production, the responsiveness and the warmth feels like a more high-quality device. The flavor with the DTL pod feels a little muted however, I’m going to blame that on it being disposable.
My verdict, I’d recommend this to any level of vaper you can’t go wrong. FreeMax doesn’t make bad products. This is probably the best plastic tank and pod combination I’ve ever tried, I’d highly recommend it!
