vape temperature

Looking to get insights on the temperature control feature in vaporizers? If yes, then we have got you covered! Let’s understand Temperature Control Vaporizers!

What is temperature-controlled vaping?

In vapes, temperature control (TC) prevents dry and burnt hits. The temperature stays the same throughout a drag-instead of getting warmer-giving a consistent vape experience. Users can choose a vape temperature limit, typically between 300°F and 600°F (100°C and 315°C). Once a coil has been set at the desired temperature, the power send to the coil automatically adjusts to maintain that temperature.

What is the Process of Temperature Control?

The temperature control setup currently consists of two types. The most common is a time-based setup. To keep the vape temperature within a certain range, these timed setups supply power to the atomizer at pre-determined intervals of time. Dry herb vaporizers and wax consistency vaporizers are common examples of this type of temperature control set up. On the other hand, box mods generally include a built-in thermometer. This is the second type of temperature control setup, which is the most accurate. By communicating with the thermometer, the battery learns how much power to supply, when to restrict the power, and when to cut off the power entirely. Due to the variety of tanks available on the market, most box mods use this type of temperature control setup rather than a timed setup.

Vaping in TC

Set your vaporizer to TC mode and choose the appropriate wire type for your coils. A vape's TCR value can be entered if it has one. Then, make sure both the vape and tank are at room temperature in order to get more accurate temperature readings. In order to achieve this, you should not use the tank or the vape for five minutes before starting.

When installing the coil, ensure it is screwed down tightly, as far as it can be. Be sure the lead is firmly trapped. Make sure that you tighten down the atomizer or tank as far as possible, but do not overdo it. Verify the resistance reading is accurate and lock it if necessary (by pressing the +/- buttons).

The Best Vaping Temperature for Mods

No matter what the device or your experience, it's always a good idea to start low and work your way up. As the temperature rises, vaporize until you reach the best vaping temperature. Each e-juice will hit at a different temperature. Depending on the liquid, different temperatures, voltages, or wattages will be needed. Due to the fact that the ratio of propylene glycol to vegetable glycerin can differ, the thicker the juice will be the more VG there is in it. When vaping with more PG, you will need to vape at a higher power output.

Vaporizing eliquids with an electronic cigarette will be most efficient between 392°F and 480°F (200°C to 250°C). Most units change temperature in increments of 10°F or 5°C.

Advantages of Temperature Control

  • Preventing dry hits: The main advantage of TC is that it prevents dry and burnt hits for you. As soon as the wick runs dry, the temperature rises, and the temperature protection immediately turns off the power. As a consequence, you do not experience a dry hit, you simply experience less vapor.
  • Life of the coil and wick: To avoid bad hits, it's important not to overheat your coil and not to singe your cotton; that causes a bitter taste. The coils in TC vapes can last longer, and the wicks last a lot longer than the ones in power mode since neither are exceeding the desired temperature.
  • Battery life: With TC vapes, you use only enough power to keep your coil at the right temperature. This means a vape using TC uses 1.5 times less power than a vape using variable wattage.
  • Consistency of vaping: Controlling the coil temperature ensures consistent vapes from puff to puff, and even within a single puff. As the coil heat varies with the length of each hit, the hits are more inconsistent in wattage mode. If you draw on a non-TC coil for an extended period of time, it will get hot -- and heat is not your friend!
